The 67th National Film Awards ceremony will be held today at the Vigyan Bhavan in New Delhi. Vice-President Mr. Venkaiah Naidu will hand out the prizes to all winners at a ceremony which begins today at 11 a.m. The winners were announced at the National Media Center in Delhi on March 22.
The 67th National Film Awards will be held to present awards to the winners for their films released in 2019. This event was scheduled to take place in May of last year. However, it was delayed due to restrictions related to the Covid-19 pandemic.
The National Film Awards are India’s most prestigious film awards recognizing excellence in cinematic achievement.
Veteran actor Rajnikanth will receive the Dada Saheb Phalke Award, India’s highest film honor.
Maharshi telugu action drama starring Mahesh Babu will receive two national film awards, including best popular film offering healthy entertainment and best choreography.
In total, 15 South Indian films took top honors in various popular categories, including non-feature films. They will all be rewarded today.
Director Priyadarshan and Mohanlal’s film, Marakkar: Arabikadalinte Simham won three awards: best feature film, special effects (Siddharth Priyadarshan) and costumes (Sujith Sudhakaran and V Sai).
Southern actor Dhanush also won the national award for best actor for his work in Asuran. The film was also named Best Tamil Film.
Young actor Naga Vishal won the award for best child artist for his work in KD Engira Karuppudurai. Oththa Seruppu Size 7 won two awards, including Special Jury Prizes and Best Audiography.
Music composer D Imman will receive the award for best musical direction for his score of the hit film Viswasam by superstar Ajith.
Jersey received the award for best film in the Telugu language.
