The 67th National Film Awards ceremony took place today at Vigyan Bhavan and we have happy faces from different film industries across India sharing their excitement on social media. From talented Kangana Ranaut to blessed musically B Praak, several Bollywood artists have received the country’s highest honor. Presented to the winners by the Vice President of India, Venkaiah Naidu, the award ceremony is organized by the Directorate of Film Festivals, which reports to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.
The list of final winners was announced on Monday, October 18, 2021 and rehearsals took place in Delhi yesterday. According to a report by The Hindu, this function was originally scheduled to be held in May of last year, however, due to the rapid spread of the COVID-19 pandemic, it had to be suspended.
In the hottest awards, veteran actor Rajinikanth was honored with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award while actress Kangana received the Best Actress Award for Bollywood Films Panga and Manikarnika: the queen of Jhansi. During this time, Manoj Bajpayee and Dhanush both each received a Best Actor Award for Hindi Film Bhonsle and the Tamil movie Asuran respectively. While the Bollywood film Chhichhore won the award for best film, director Nitesh Tiwari dedicated the honor to the end Sushant Singh Rajput who had made the headliner of the film.
In addition to these, the veteran actress Pallavi Joshi won the award for Best Supporting Actress for her role in the Hindi film The Tashkent files and musician B Praak received the award for best male singer for the Bollywood title Kesari. Hindi film Bahattar Hoorain‘s Sanjay Puran Singh Chauhan won the award for best director and Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri received the award for Best Screenplay (Dialogue Writer) for The Tashkent files. Hindi Film Award for Best Children’s Film Kastoori.
Meanwhile, other important awards received by films from other parts of India include Priyadarshanthe epic of the malayalam war Marakkar: Lion of the Arabian Sea, who sees Mohanlal play the titular role. It won the award for best feature film. tamil star Vijay Sethupathi was named Best Supporting Actor Super deluxe. In addition, the award for best musical director was received by D Imman for the Tamil title Viswasam.
Many other prizes were also awarded for various categories in the Non-Functionality section. Interestingly, the state’s most favorable film award went to Sikkim.
