Christmas Parades, Holiday Events in Heartland 2021

Cape Girardeau County

The 3rd annual downtown Cape Girardeau Christmas tree lighting will be November 26. The festivities take place at 151 N. Fountain St. in the courtyard of Vasterling Suites.

The 29th Annual Parade of Lights on Broadway in Cape Girardeau is November 28. The parade begins at dusk. This year’s theme is “Ringtone While on Vacation in Old Town Cape”.

The Downtown Holiday Open House in Cape Girardeau will be Friday-Saturday, 3-4 December. It includes live Christmas carols, photos with Santa Claus and the Grinch, family activities at Santa’s Workshop, horse-drawn carriage rides and more. Shops and restaurants will be open.

Cape Town’s Old Town Holiday Bazaar is December 4. The open-air event features vendors of products and handicrafts. The bazaar will be located on Frederick Street between the blocks of Broadway Street and Themis Street.

Flashlight candy cane hunting will be December 10 at 6:30 p.m. at the Shawnee Park Center. It is for children 2 years and older. Parents will not be charged for admission to the event, but must accompany children. Register online here.

Breakfast with Santa will be from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on December 11 at the Osage Center. For children 12 and under accompanied by an adult (everyone present must purchase a ticket). Tickets cost $ 7 per person in advance or $ 10 per person on the day of departure. Santa will arrive at 9 a.m. Parents are invited to bring their cameras to take pictures with Santa Claus. Flip the Switch Party for the Holiday of Lights Extravaganza will be Saturday November 27 from 2.30 p.m. to 6 p.m. Join the tradition of tree lighting at Jackson City Park. There will also be crafts and you can visit with Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus. Start at the Civic Center parking lot at 5 p.m. and take a trailer with Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus to Jackson City Park to flip the switch.

The Uptown Jackson Christmas Parade will be Sunday 5 December at 5 pm The theme this year is “Peace on Earth”.

Mississippi County

Charleston’s annual Christmas Parade will be December 3 at 6 pm it will travel from S. Main to N. Main Streets. You can meet Santa after the parade at Terri K’s for photos and / or take part in Ugly Sweater Night during Midnight Madness Downtown.

Perry County

Christmas in the square in Perryville will be Saturday 4th December 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Activities will include ornament making, photos with Santa Claus, parade of lights at 6 p.m. and choral singing at 6:30 p.m.

Illuminate the path of hope The lighting of the trees will be Sunday 5 December at the National Shrine of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal, 811 W. Saint Joseph St. in Perryville. The annual tree lighting event will take place from 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm They ask participants to bring at least one non-perishable item that will help the Charity Ladies’ Pantry to help people in the area. need in the community.

The visit to the Church of the Country of Christmas will take place from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. on 16-17 Dec. in Perryville. This is the 17th season of the free, self-guided tour that features churches that are at least 100 years old.

Crowns across America will be Saturday, December 18 11 am to noon at the Missouri National Veterans Memorial in Perryville.


Jackson County

The fantastic Carbondale Lights parade will take place on December 4th. The street closure for the parade will begin at 5 p.m. View detour and parking maps here.

Write letters to Santa starting December 4 at the Old Train Depot, 121 S. Illinois Ave. 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Jefferson County

The Downtown Christmas Parade and Tree Lighting in Mount Vernon will be Saturday 11 December 5 pm to 8 pm The theme of the parade is “Miracle on 9th St.” Activities will take place between 3 pm and 7 pm. They include: concessions, carriage rides, tree lighting ceremony, crafts and more.

Johnson County

The Christmas open house in Goreville will be December 4 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Town Hall. You can take pictures with Santa Claus. There will be crafts, baked goods, candy and more.

County of Massac

The Metropolis Christmas Parade and Tree Lighting will be December 4 3 pm to 4:30 pm The theme for this year’s parade is “Christmas at the Movies”. It will go onto Ferry Street (near Cordavino Restaurant), go up to 5th St. (turn at the light near City National Bank), turn onto Superman Square, then end on Market Street towards Walgreens.

Perry County

The lighting of the Christmas tree in the town of Pinckneyville will be November 18 at 7:30 p.m. north of the Square.

Take the kids to see Santa Claus and Santa Claus at Du Quoin Town Hall. They will be there from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. December 3, 4, 5, 10, 11, 12, 17, 18 and 19.

The City of Du Quoin has announced its Christmas decoration contest. Registration is in progress. Judgment will take place on week of December 12 with the winners announced no later than December 19 at 8 p.m. You can call City Hall at 618 542-3841 to register.

Lighting for the Santa Claus Parade / Community Tree and Nativity Scene will be Saturday November 27 at Du Quoin. It starts at 6 p.m. with the lighting of the Christmas tree and crib, followed by the parade down Main Street. The parade route will run from Banterra Bank to the Grand Show on Main Street.

Union County

Anna’s Town Christmas Parade will be Saturday 11 December at noon. The parade begins at middle school and travels south on the highway. 5 / Powell Park. It then turns left onto 4th St., crosses the railroad tracks, and turns right. It will end in front of the Anna ISD administrative building.

Christmas in the Village will be December 4 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Cobden Town Center Pavilion. Father Christmas and Mother Christmas will be there. Other events include Christmas carols, wagon rides, Christmas lights, shopping and more.

Williamson County

Santa’s letterbox in Marion will be 24 november. The mailbox is on the sidewalk just outside the main entrance to City Hall, 1102 Tower Square Plaza. Drop letters by December 15. They ask you to include a return address on the letter or envelope.

The horse-drawn carriage rides in Marion will start on December 6. They will be from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. until December 10, then from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. 11-12 Dec. Community of Faith Church will host The Christ Event, a live nativity scene tour, 18-19 Dec 5:30 to 9 p.m. It is located in the parking lot adjacent to 107 E. Union Street between Crown Brew Coffee Co. and Union Street Arts in downtown Marion. The open-air nativity scene tour tells the story of Christ’s birth with live music performances and live animals. The tour starts every 15 minutes, is led by shepherd guides and lasts approximately 30 minutes.

Registrations will be open from December 1 to 15 for the Very Merry Marion Holiday Contest. Award categories include: Best Christmas Spirit, Rockin ‘Around the Christmas Tree, It’s a Griswold Life, Best Use of Animation, Santa’s Workshop and Jolliest Business. Online voting will take place between 1-20 Dec.. All entries will be mapped and available for public participation.


Calloway County

Murray Holiday Open House Weekend is November 13-14. The Chamber of Commerce encourages you to buy local.

The hanging service of the Greens will be November 28 at Murray’s First United Methodist Church. It will run from 8.45 a.m. to 11 a.m. and will tell the meaning of the different symbols used by Christians during Advent and Christmas.

The 6th Annual Rotary Light Up Murray Christmas Parade will take place on Saturday, December 4 at 5 p.m.

The Murray Bank Festival of Lights will be November 27-Jan. 1 to Murray. Central Park will be illuminated nightly from 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM. We encourage you to bring cans for your entry, which will be donated to Murray Calloway Need Line.

Marshall County

Mail your letters to Santa Claus in a special letterbox at Calvert Town Hall. Letters will be accepted now until December 12. They must have the child’s name and the return mailing address to receive a response. Tampons are not required. Parents can include advice in the envelope to help Santa’s helpers when writing the letter.

The 5th Avenue Christmas celebration is scheduled for December 4 in the town of Calvert. It features the Jingle All the Way 5K and Candy Cane Fun Run at Memorial Park at 8 a.m., Christmas Bazaar at 9 a.m., Lions Club Christmas Parade at 6 p.m. and Calvert Town Tree Lighting at Memorial Park at 7:30 p.m. . Also get photos with Santa on 5th Avenue and the Calvert City Civic Center, plus train rides, cookie decorations and more at Memorial Park.

McCracken County

No Place Like Local Holidays Small Business Saturday in downtown Paducah will be Saturday November 27. There will be live music, buskers, free horse-drawn carriage rides, s’mores, photos with Santa Claus and more. The Jolly Trolley will provide transportation throughout the city center.

Paducah Parks and Recreation Sugar Cane Hunting will be Saturday 4th December. The free event is for children 10 and under. It will be held on the lawn of the National Quilt Museum, 215 Jefferson St. Registration begins at 11:45 am This year there will be over 3,000 candy canes across four age groups. The hunt will take place at the following times: 12:30 p.m. for children 3 and under, 12:50 p.m. for 4 and 5 year olds, 1:10 p.m. for 6 and 7 year olds and 1:30 p.m. for 8 to 10 year olds. For the safety of participants, 2nd Street will be closed to traffic between Jefferson and Monroe Street. They encourage participants to park in the downtown Farmers’ Market parking lots with entry at the intersection of 2nd and Monroe.

The 2021 City of Paducah Christmas Parade returns to Broadway in downtown Paducah on Saturday 4th December at 17 o’clock. This year’s theme is “It’s a GREAT Christmas!” Participants can celebrate their favorite superheroes, hometown, or pretend. Social distancing is encouraged. Parade units will begin lining up at 3 p.m. in the Broadway staging area between 13th and 17th streets and nearby. The parade route begins at 14th and Broadway and will continue on Broadway to 2nd Street where it will turn left onto 2nd Street and continue to Monroe Street where it ends at the Farmers Market parking lot.

The Paducah Holiday Market will be held from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on December 11. You can buy gifts from local farmers and artisans. The location is to be determined.
