Cinema: Italian film festival in Serbia-Montenegro – Culture

(ANSAmed) – BELGRADE, JANUARY 24 – The Yugoslav Cinematheque starts hosting the first edition of CinemaItaliaOggi Balcani on Monday, an annual event showcasing the best Italian film productions. Ten of Italy’s most successful films over the past three years will be screened until January 29 at the Uzun Mirkova 1 Cinematheque. During the month of February, a selection of films will be screened at the Montenegro Cinematheque in Pogdorica, the Cultural Center of Novi Sad and the Cultural Center of Niš.

This ambitious project, designed and carried out to promote new Italian film productions in Serbia and Montenegro, is promoted by the Italian Cultural Institute in Belgrade in collaboration with Cinecittà and the Yugoslav Cinematheque, with the institutional support of the Italian Embassies in Belgrade and Podgorica .

Cinecittà has contributed significantly to the organization, promoting it to important Italian distributors to present Italian cinema also outside the traditional distribution channels.

A few local distributors offered valuable assistance, confirming the Balkan region’s interest in contemporary Italian films.

CinemaItaliaOggi Balcani, Monday evening at 8:00 p.m., will host the screening of “Maledetta primavera” (2020) by Elisa Amoruso.

It will be followed the following days by “Cambio tutto!” (2020) by Guido Chiesa, “A Chiara” (2021) by Jonas Carpignano, “Ariaferma” (2021) by Leonardo Di Costanzo, “Bangla” (2019) by Phaim Bhuiyan, “California” (2021) by Alessando Cassigoli and Casey Kauffman, “Il legionario” (2021) by Hleb Papou, “I predatori” (2020) by Pietro Castellitto, “Cosa sarà” (2020) by Francesco Bruni and “Una notte dottore” (2021) by Guido Chiesa.

Cinecittà is the public company whose main shareholder is the Italian Ministry of Culture. It houses one of the most important European photographic and cinematographic archives, the Istituto Luce, which has been registered as a “memory of the world” by UNESCO.

The institutional activity of Cinecittà includes the promotion of Italian cinema through projects presented in collaboration with the most important cultural institutions in the world. It collaborates with the best film festivals guaranteeing the presence of Italian films and artists and also deals with the organization of numerous film events around the world. (ANS Amed).
