Midwest Film Festival presents The Best of The Midwest Awards | Chicago Reel

Midwest Film Festival presents its annual awards gala – Best of the Midwest Awards (BMA) on tuesday february 1 at CineCity Chicago.

From 7:00 p.m.patrons are invited to enjoy networking, an open bar, groovy DJ tracks, and small bites. 20:00 begins the exciting awards ceremony which includes clips from each nominated film, special guests from the community revealing the winners, and acceptance speeches from the filmmakers. It will be a special evening to reconnect with old friends and colleagues while meeting new collaborators.

It will be an evening “to recognize and thank the filmmakers and our community who participate in MFF events, whether in person, online or remotely”, said executive director Erica Duffy. “I am thrilled with the films we have lined up in 2021, the reception from the public and, of course, the sponsorship that supports our efforts throughout the year. We all know that 2021 has been difficult, but the Midwest Film Fest has gotten stronger and we have big plans for the coming year.

Award categories include: Grand Prize, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Cinematography, Best Screenplay, Best Production Design, Best Editing, Best Score, and an Empowerment Award.

All activities will take place at CineCity Studios Chicago, 2429 W 14th St, Chicago, Illinois.

Pre-reception, 7:00 p.m.:

The evening will consist of a pre-reception from 7:00 p.m., where attendees are invited to hit the red carpet for photo ops and exclusive interviews about the year’s most beloved films and artists. Then, join other filmmakers and peers to network and reconnect over appetizers while sipping free drinks generously sponsored by CineCity Studios Chicago. DJ SAGA will spin the tunes and amp up the celebration.

Prize-giving, 8:00 p.m.:

AT 20:00 we’ll be asking attendees to find their seat, or VIP table, for the Midwest’s most anticipated awards show. Your host, Michael Isaacwill invite movie icons with names like Jennifer Reder and Kwame Amoaku on stage to present each award. Edited by Periscope polewith voiceover by Jonathan Desire, you will be wowed by excerpts from each nominated film, and finally the winner of each category will be revealed. The filmmakers of each winning film will be present to accept their award and deliver an acceptance speech.

After party, 9:30-11:00 p.m.:

The good vibes and conversations will continue at a festive after-party from 9:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., where ticket holders can continue to mingle and network with new friends and colleagues. The drinks and tunes will keep flowing, and a few attendees have even promised to hit the dance floor to show off their best moves.

Tickets are $40 for individual admission or $600 for a VIP table which includes admission for 8 people and 2 valet parking comps.
