New Illinois State University Film Festival is accepting submissions

NORMAL – The Foxtail Film Festival, a new event at Illinois State University, is open to submissions of works from high school and college students.

Films must be less than 10 minutes long and will be classified into three categories: narration, documentary and animation, the university said. The festival will take place from April 27 to 30 at the Normal Theater, with free admission.

The festival will be judged by UIS students in Andrew Ventimiglia’s Film Festival Management and Curatorial class. Ventimiglia is an assistant professor in the School of Communication and director of Foxtail.

Students interested in submitting work can find a link to FilmFreeway submission page on the Foxtail website at Submission fees vary by deadline, with films submitted by November 18 receiving a discount. The usual deadline is January 13, with a $10 fee, after which the fee will increase to $25, with the final deadline being March. 3, 2023.

While the festival is open to all high school and college students, preference will be given to filmmakers from Illinois.
