Palm Springs International Film Awards will honor Lady Gaga with the Icon Award

Palm Springs, CA (December 9, 2021) – The Palm Springs International Film Awards announced that Lady Gaga would receive the Icon Award for her performance in Gucci House. The Film Awards will take place in person on January 6, 2022 at the Palm Springs Convention Center and will run through January 17, 2022. The event will be presented by American Express and sponsored by Entertainment Tonight.

“To many, Lady Gaga is an icon through her music, but she continues to wow audiences with her iconic acting roles. After her memorable performance in A star is born, Lady Gaga raises the bar again in her interpretation of Patrizia Reggiani in Gucci House, the shocking true story of the family behind the Italian fashion empire,” said festival president Harold Matzner. “For this tour de force performance, we are honored to present the Icon Award to Lady Gaga.”

Past Icon Award recipients are Glenn Close, Willem Dafoe, Michael Douglas, Robert Duvall, Tom Hanks and Meryl Streep.

Lady Gaga joins previously announced winners this year Belfast (Vanguard Award) given to writer and director Kenneth Branagh and cast members Caitríona Balfe, Jamie Dornan, Ciarán Hinds and Jude Hill; Jane Campion (director of the year); Jessica Chastain (Desert Palm Excellence Award, Actress); Penélope Cruz (international star award, actress); Andrew Garfield (Desert Palm Achievement Award, Actor); Jennifer Hudson (Chairman’s Award); King Richard (Ensemble Performance Award) given to cast members Will Smith, Aunjanue Ellis, Saniyya Sidney, Demi Singleton, Jon Bernthal and Tony Goldwyn; and Kristen Stewart (Spotlight Award, Actress).
