Suriya wrote a heartfelt note on Soorarai Pottru’s 68th National Film Awards win

Soorarai Pottru won five honors at the 68th National Film Awards. The prestigious awards were announced on July 22, 2022 in Delhi. The annual National Film Awards have been presented by the Directorate of Film Festivals to recognize the best films of 2020 in Indian cinema. The 10-member jury, led by filmmaker Vipul Shah, submitted its report to I&B Minister Anurag Thakur.

Tamil film Soorarai Pottru starring Suriya won Best Feature Film, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Screenplay and Best Musical Direction (Background Music) at the 68th National Film Awards. Suriya was thrilled to have won so many single film titles.

The Tamil actor who celebrates his 47th birthday today July 23 thanked his family, fans and colleagues for their love and well wishes. As he scooped up awards for Soorarai Pottru, he took to social media to express his heartfelt gratitude.

Suriya wrote a heartfelt note by winning Best Actor at the 68th National Film Awards and Soorarai Pottru’s team won other awards in various categories. He started the letter with greetings in Tamil – Venakkam. He wrote, “My sincere thanks for all the love and good wishes that have reached us and enriched our lives so far. We are delighted with the five national awards for Soorarai Pottru. The overwhelming reception of our released film straight on OTT during a pandemic, made us cry with joy. Our happiness is doubled at this national recognition for Soorarai Pottru, as it is a testament to Sudha Kongara’s many years of hard work and creative vision for the story of Captain Gopinath.

The letter further said, “The Best Picture award is a great recognition for the 2D team and I thank them and my best friend and CEO Rajsekar KarpoorasundaraPandian. I express my gratitude to director “Vasanth Sai and filmmaker-producer Maniratnam who trusted in my acting abilities and gave me my first film, Nerukku Ner. My sincere congratulations to my fellow Best Actor winner Ajay Devgn and other winners of Tamilnadu National Award, Filmmaker Vasanth Sai, Editor Sreekar Prasad, Actor Lakshmi Priya Chandramouli, Filmmaker Madonne Ashwin and other winners from other states of our country, for the year 2020, in this 68th national film award.

Suriya also thanked his wife Jyotika for encouraging him to do Soorarai Pottru. “My special thanks to my Jyotika, who insisted that I produce and star in Soorarai Pottru. My love and ‘Thank you’ to everyone who has encouraged my efforts so far and to my Amma and Appa, Karthi and Brinda, who have always supported me. I dedicate this award to my children Diya and Dev and my loving family”

Soorarai Pottru is an action drama film directed by Sudha Prasad. The film stars Suriya, Aparna Balamurali and Paresh Rawal in the lead roles. The film was released in 2020 and is now available online on Amazon Prime Video. The film is already on the cards to be remade in Hindi by Akshay Kumar.
