The Federation of Indian Associations of Chicago organizes spectacular, vibrant and colorful Holi celebrations

Federation of Indian Associations [FIA] Chicago, 501(c)(3) status, a leading community umbrella organization — hosted spectacular, vibrant and colorful Holi celebrations marked by festive cheer interspersed with a beautifully decorated stage and venues, filled with music, of dancing and singing awash in the vibrancy of color and gallant exuberance at the Mall of India in Naperville, Illinois on Sunday, April 03, 2022.

The event began with an opening welcome by Master of Ceremonies Richa Chand, along with warm introductions from co-hosts Vinita Gulabani and Pratibha Jairath & Neelam Jai, all of whom charmed the audience throughout the festive celebration. with their captivating eloquence marked by impromptu banter. Between.

Commencing the auspicious celebrations of Holi, Mrs. Rita Shah’s devotional prayer song reminded everyone that we should cherish every moment of life and be grateful to the Almighty for being so generous to us. President and Founder President Mr. Sunil Shah was invited for a welcome speech, followed by President Mr. Hitesh Gandhi and Past President and Founder Mr. Onkar Sangha.

Presiding over the Holi celebrations, Sunil Shah, President, Founder and Visionary of the FIA, welcomed the large gathering and said that Holi is a celebration of the festival of colors – colors of unity, colors of humanity – and added that it is a celebration of life! President Hitesh Gandhi said in his speech that this event was not only about celebrating Holi but had the more important purpose of keeping our culture alive and uniting us all and he announced the upcoming celebrations of Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsava in August 2022.

The Holi celebrations attracted wide participation from the community which was enhanced by the presence of several elected officials and high ranking dignitaries, during the auspicious lamp lighting ceremony which was conducted by the leadership of the AIF Featuring: Mayor Glendale Heights Chodri Khokkar, Circuit Court Judge Kavita Athanikar, Aurora Alderman Shweta Baid, Wheatland Township Administrator Meghana Bansal, Krishna Bansal, Grand Patron Jasbir Suga with Suga Builders, Hanover Park Administrator Khaja Moinuddin , Pradeep B Shukla, Ajeet Singh (Midway Business Group), Keerthi Reevori, Harry Sidhu (Outland Media), Altaf Bukhari (AB Productions) Presidents and representatives of FIA Partner Member Associations: Shailendra Singh & Chandan Singh (USOGC), Ramesh Malhan (UPA), Sal Khoja (SK Productions), Manoj Rathod (Arush Music) and all FIA team members (Executive Board, Directors and Advisory Board) They were all invited on stage to pay tribute to them.

The loud and exuberant performance of Dhol Tasha Pathak by Maharashtra Mandal Shala – led by Vidya Joshi filled everyone’s heart with Holi joy. Jitendra Bulsara sang Rang Barse, Khaike Paan Banaras Wala and many more Holi Special songs, Pratibha Jairath & Rita Shah sang Kajra Mohabbat Wala, Chittiyaan Kalaiyaan and many other fan favorites, Sahiba Sidhu sang Baar-Baar Dekho, Richa Chand sang Jai Jai Shiv Shankar, Mahijit Virdi also sang popular songs in Hindi and Punjabi! There were several Bollywood-inspired folk, fusion and modern group dance performances. Jai Mehta did an energetic modern contemporary style dance performance on Desi Girls. Equally sensational was Team Laya’s performance on a Bollywood Hindi Medley, illustrating Holi’s delight in fusion-style dancing (choreographer: Priyanka Parekh, performers: Priyanka Parekh, Ananya Bhuskute, Manisha Patil, Manasi Thatte, Trupti Kale, Sampada Thatte). A super rock performance by SR International Group also captivated the audience (CEO of SRI, Rita Singh, Choreographer: Elizar Rodriguez; Performers: Keya Patel, Diya Rakesh, Saanvika Soni, Karina Bhatt, Nithya Lavu, Akshath Reddy, Ananya Maduri, Dhruva Shah, Hansikaa Vinotha Kannan, Neha John, Shreeya Thakur). Another very unique and traditional dance performance by Suhani Academy of Performing Arts and Hindu scriptures and Vedas stole everyone’s heart! (Choreographer: Falguni Rana, Participants: Aanya Sullivan, Riya Sullivan, Triti Oliver, Mohini Sullivan, Monica Jaiswal, Oliver and Falguni Rana).

In the middle of all this, a very soothing and relaxing “conversation on the virtues of yoga and meditation in today’s life”! was presented by Yoga Guru Anu Malhotra. With the warm weather complimenting the festivities, the afternoon celebrations catapulted into a joyful exuberance spilling outside the mall where the real Holi celebrations kicked into high gear with high-pitched DJ music ( provided by DJ Thomas by JB Sounds) and dusting it with “gulal” colored powder on top of each other ensuring that no one was left without the splash of color on them – each celebrant engaged in a spontaneous dance to the reverberating beats of Bollywood hits and the amazing Dholi beats of Mehul Adhikari, inspiring garba lovers to enjoy their favorite garba raas together while celebrating Holi!!

The event concluded with the acceptance speech by FIA Executive Vice-President Shital Daftari, followed by the beats of Dholi and the FIA ​​team led the dancing audience outside for some color fun Holi!
